Leila Luliana da Costa Vieira Lopes born on February 26, 1986 in Benguela, Angola. She is 5ft 10.5in tall Angolan beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Angola 2011 and Miss Universe 2011.

On October 8, 2010, she was crowned Miss Angola UK. This election caused protests under the Angolan community in Britain, who criticized that Leila Lopes at that time was not a resident in the UK. She was crowned Miss Angola 2011 on December 18, 2010 held at Luanda and got an opportunity to represent Angola Miss Universe 2011 pageant. She also obtained Photogenic Award.

On September 12, 2011, She won the Miss Universe 2011 title held at São Paulo, Brazil. Lopes received the title from the former Miss Universe titleholder, Ximena Navarrete of Mexico. Lopes became the fourth African woman, and the second black African woman, and first Angolan to win the title of Miss Universe.

The first runner-up was 23-year-old Olesia Stefanko of Ukraine and the second runner-up was Priscila Machado of Brazil. The third was Miss Philippines Shamcey Supsup and the fourth Miss China Luo Zilin. Vasuki Sunkavalli of 27 years old from Hyderabad was representing India in Miss Universe 2011 competitions.
