Genelia D'Souza is a very popular and lovable actress from South India. She is Mangalorean Catholic born and brought up in Mumbai. Her date of birth is 5 August 1987. She did her Management degree from St. Andrews College, Branda, Mumbai.
Genelia D'Souza first shot to fame with her ad on Parker Pen along with Big B Amitabh Bachhan. Following this, she appeared in couple of ads. Shanker, director from South India was very impressed with performance in these ads and offer her lead role in BOYS (2003) made in Tamil & Telugu. Then it was not turn back. She has acted in all Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Hindi movies.
Her debut Hindi movie was in 2003, Tujhe Meri Kasam opposite Ritesh Deshmukh. The movie came and went, a big flop. Disappointed, Genelia D'Souza left Bollywood, tried her luck in Tollywood movies. Riding on the success of BOYS, she groomed her career down south. She was lead star in successful Telugu movies like SATYAM, SAMBA and SYE. With Venkatesh, she starred in SUBHASH CHANDRA BOSE. With Vijay she gave SACHEIN (Tamil) an average hit down south. Her biggest ever hit came in Telugu film BOMMARILLU with Siddharth Narayan. She won Filmfare Award for the Best Actress for this move. A remake of BOMMARILLU was made in Kannada SANTHOSH SUBRAMANIAM. Her Kannada movie SATYA IN LOVE set new record in Kannada film Industry, grossing 4 crores in collection in the first week! In a short span, she won several awards.
Once again she was back in Bollywood in MERE BAAP PEHLE AAP. The best to come in her Hindi blockbuster JAANE TU YA JAANE NA (co-produced by Aamir Khan & PVR) where she played the lead as Aditi Mahan taka MEOW. The movie is the launch pad for Aamir khan's nephew Imran Khan.
